[UPDATE] Govan Mbeki Municipality gives feedback on the power outages in Secunda

They are urging residents affected by the outage, to treat all network points as live at all times.

UPDATE: (16:30)

Two of the three earth conductors that were stolen last night, have been installed. The two transformers should be switched on by 4.30pm that will restore power in the old Secunda town in Nelson Mandela Drive, Helen Joseph, OR Tambo, part of PDP Kruger and the CBD.

Once the transformers have been switched on and everything goes according to plan, the third transformer will be switched off for the installation of the earth conductor. This switch is planned to take place at 5.30pm and will affect the following areas: Sunset Park, Ext 22 & 23, Trichardt and part of the CBD.

The Govan Mbeki Municipality profoundly apologises for this unfortunate and unforeseen situation.

It is believed that earth conductors were stolen from the main transformer. According to the municipality the energy section team is on site attending to the problem.

They are urging residents affected by the outage, to treat all network points as live at all times.

The Govan Mbeki Municipality apologises to affected consumers for the inconvenience by the power outage.
