Limpopo bodybuilding champs ready to flex at nationals

Otsibile Sebaka wins Limpopo bodybuilding championships, earning a national spot alongside Polokwane's Bernalee Benade and Jan Vorster.

POLOKWANE – It was a surreal moment for first-time competitors who earned their spots to represent Limpopo in the national bodybuilding championship next month, following a provincial competition held on Saturday at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World.

Among the successful athletes is Otsibile Sebaka (24), who clinched first place in the men’s physique category under 178cm.

Sebaka, who has never competed on a professional platform before, expressed his joy and gratitude to Polokwane Observer, stating that the results were a testament to the hard work that each competitor put in over the months leading up to the national competition, which will take place from August 1-4 in KwaZulu-Natal.

Reflecting on his journey, Sebaka said, “Bodybuilding has kept me from a lot of social pressure. Just studying and gym have been my life, and the results are starting to show.”

Tears of joy marked his accomplishment, underscoring the dedication and perseverance required in the sport.

Judges and the audience were impressed by the competitors’ efforts, as both women and men showcased their fitness and health through their sculpted physiques.

The event, organised by the International Federation of Body Building and Fitness (IFBB), featured competitions in various categories, including men’s bodybuilding, men’s classic bodybuilding, men’s fitness, men’s physique, women’s physique, and women’s body-fitness, among others.

From Polokwane, female bodybuilding enthusiast Bernalee Benade (24) and men’s champion Jan Vorster, who had his first show in October last year, brought fierce competition and also secured several championship titles. Their victories have earned them the opportunity to represent Limpopo at the national level.
