There is nothing better than a pair of clean shoes. Shoe washer and founder of Shoe Wash, Phuti Moloto says wearing white tekkies can be tricky, especially when you want to keep them clean at all times.
The Seshego resident says even though he washes shoes with specific products to make extra profit, there are other ways to keep white tekkies clean.
“Mix a tablespoon of baking soda with two tablespoons of white vinegar and a cup of warm water and mix well. Dip a clean cloth or an old toothbrush into the paste and begin scrubbing the dirt away,” he advised. Phuti explained that the baking soda mixture usually dries quickly, so you won’t need to wait for it to dry.
He also says that different shoes require different products. “Leather tekkies are different from suede and nubuck tekkies, so I make sure that I use suitable products not to damage the shoes. If you’re in a hurry and would like to clean your shoes quickly, the baking soda mixture will solve it. Bare in mind that I’m there to wash any type of shoes that you won’t be able to wash yourself due to your busy schedule,” he said.
He adds that another method of washing tekkies at home is to make a solution of one part bleach to four parts water. “Dip an old toothbrush in the solution, then scrub the dirty parts of your shoes with the toothbrush, rinse the brush with water and keeping it wet, scrub the stains until they’re all gone and you’re good to go,” he said.
