Raise a few eyebrows with these make-up tips

With these tips, your eyebrows will be the star of your make-up show

Make-up artist, Aurelia Rangata, believes thick brows aren’t just meant for those born with a naturally perfect pair.

“If you don’t naturally have thick eyebrows, but you want them, pencils and powders work wonders to bridge the gaps, especially if your brows have been over-tweezed and there’s no time for regrowth,” she said.

Here are easy steps to fill and define your brows:

Step 1: Get an old mascara brush that you don’t use anymore or buy a brow-brush.

  • Place it along the side of your nose to find where your brows should ideally start.

Step 2:

  • Take the same brow-brush and angle it from the outside of your nose to the outer corner of your eye to find where your brows should ideally end.
  • The end of the brow’s point should be at a 45-degree angle from the outer eye.

Step 3:

  • Now start brushing your brows upwards using the brush.
  • Brushing your eyebrows upwards helps you to see the shape you desire and to see where your eyebrows are uneven.

Step 4:

  • Using short dash-like strokes to mimic your natural hair, softly fill in any sparse areas with a pencil.
  • Make sure that you choose the colour that best matches your brows and fill in lightly so it’s barely there. “Beautiful eyebrow-pencil colours I like using are brown or black colours because they blend in with the colour of my brows.”

Step 5:

  • Using an angled brush and a similarly coloured pressed powder will define the shape of your brows even more.
  • The goal to this is to really have the most even brows, but try not to ‘overly’ fill in the inside corners of the brows or make the end points too harsh.

Step 6:

  • Start brushing through your brows again with a spoolie brush (eyebrow brush/and old mascara brush) to blend out the colour and soften any visible harsh lines.

Step 7:

  • To set the look and hold the eyebrow hairs in place, comb through brows (using the brush) with a coloured hair gel. Make sure not to apply a lot as some leave ‘white-ish’ dry scales.

Step 8:

  • Dip your fluffy brush in translucent powder and trace around the perimeter of the brows.
  • This will sharpen and clean your brow edges.

Step 9:

  • Apply make-up and make sure it’s the right colour for your skin.
