POLOKWNE – Local barber, Ngoako Matlou shared tips which men need to pay attention to before they change their hair colour.
The first thing to consider is that your hair colour may not be the desired result after the first dye.
“Sometimes it takes more than one dye to achieve the desired result. It is advisable to have a professional dye your hair for you to avoid mishaps and dissatisfaction.
“They can provide you with important tips such as not colouring hair in a colour brighter by more than three shades of your natural colour,” he advised.
The pattern in which curls change due to the chemicals in the dye is prevalent with natural hair, which for some people, might be temporary and for others, permanent.
Hair colour lightening products increase the hair’s natural porosity.
Hair dye may also make the hair less elastic which causes it to break easier. This means that hair may become dry, hence the importance of having a protein and moisture-focused plan to keep the hair healthy and thriving.
Deep condition the hair to keep it healthy at cuticle level.
For those who are ultra adventurous, using natural dyes such as henna is the way to go as it does not cause much damage on the hair.
