Slay your next outfit with a stylish bubble ponytail

He adds that the more volume the hair has, the easier it will be to create big bubbles.

POLOKWANE – The bubble ponytail is simple, yet stylish, said hairstylist, Maite Mashapa from Polokwane. He tells BONUS that the hairstyle takes about 10 minutes to do, and with practice, he adds that it would eventually take less time. “Cute hairstyles can still be achieved even when you have a lot to do. What I love about bubble ponies is that it’s even better with messy or afro hair. You don’t have to straighten your hair to make it look perfect. All you have to do is tie your hair in a ponytail, and create some bubbles,” he added.

He adds that the more volume the hair has, the easier it will be to create big bubbles. “The hairstyle can be done with straight hair, creased hair, and even ‘messy hair’ in general,” he added.

How to create bubbles in a ponytail:

“This will depend on the length of your hair. If your hair is short, insert hair extensions to your natural ponytail, then work on the extension to create bubbles,” Maite said.

• Comb and brush the hair up in a tight ponytail.

• Have a few hair elastics with you so that you can tie bubbles with them.

• Tie about five or six bubbles (depending on how long your hair is), using elastics (preferably transparent ones to give it a natural look) as you tie the ponytail.

• If the bubbles aren’t big enough, give them volume individually, making sure they’re all the same sizes. Then you’re good to go.

“If you want to use colourful hair elastics, try matching it with your clothes so that you’re colour coordinating,” Maite concluded.
