In her quest to overcome the scourge of unemployment in the country and the province, Miss Limpopo 2019, Chairmaine Nkosi aspires to establish a media company next year.
Nkosi says she wants to create an online channel where young people in the province can engage each other on various issues affecting them. “We want to start with the project next year. We plan to employ graduates in the media and communication fraternity. The channel will be a voice to the unemployed youth in the province and the country. I have been to many road shows and seen how young people struggle to access information and economic opportunities. I have seen how graduates from disadvantaged backgrounds struggle to access information, this will be a platform for them. Through the channel they will be able to engage corporates, government and private sector,” Nkosi said.
She described the seven month journey of her Miss Limpopo reign as challenging yet fulfilling. “I learnt a lot. I had good and bad times but I value the lessons I have learned thus far. Through my corporate social investment programme I was able to raise funds for underprivileged students from various villages in the province to purchase study material and food parcels for them. This is the project I started before entering the Miss Limpopo pageant. I lost my father in April this year. He died of cancer and was in hospital since last year. It was difficult to come to terms with his death.”
She said she will embarking on a road show in the province in August to promote the 2020 Mr and Miss Limpopo pageant. “I will be in different districts of the province creating awareness about the pageant and am looking forward to meet the young men and woman who want to take part in the pageant.”
