He said coats are very versatile, they can be worn at anytime for any occasion, during the winter season. “It can be worn going to the office, hanging out with friends or even doing your errands at the mall. Men’s coats are generally available in two lengths, long and three quarters. Coats add masculinity, earnestness and reliability to the image,” he said.

Jerry shared the types of coats that are in fashion this season. The chesterfield has simple vertical seams and no side-back piece. “This coat is liked by the upper class in London. It’s more relevant to the stylish man, because they find it easy to accessorise,” he explained. Another style that is in, is the trench coat which is light, traditional and timeless. It is also suitable to be worn in autumn. The loden style is an antique fabric that’s matted and made from waterproof wool. “It was for the typical students, intellectuals and middle class of the 60s and 70s. It has a shirt collar,” he added. The pea coat is also known as the ‘sailor’s heavy coat’. It comes in different deep colours such as navy, black, maroon and camel. It works when worn with a formal pants and Chelsea boots. The Ulster is the preferred choice for modern men, because it’s elegant and represents power and the goals of a gentleman.

Men usually want a style that portrays power, character and vision, whereas women look for coats that are fun, colourful, more fitted and appealing. “I would advise the fuller figured person to wear coats such as the trench coat, pea coat, Ulster as they come in double breasted buttons and they are more flexible inside. It is very important for their bodies not to look restricted, otherwise it doesn’t look appealing. The super skinny should consider fitted coats such as the chesterfield and loden. Do not wear baggy or big coats, because they totally demolishes the style and class you want to express,” he concluded.
