POLOKWANE – Winter is upon us and your chiskop need not suffer. Here are a few tips from Ngoako, the barber about bald heads.

The first thing is not to stop using shampoo and conditioner on your head, because there are tiny hairs that are invisible to the naked eye that need the conditioning.

“This will help with the oil and dirt that builds up on the scalp. You don’t need to overdo it, just apply some shampoo on your head, this can be done when you take a shower and rinse, then you are ready to go,” he said. He added that winter is a time to use products that will moisturise your scalp and keep it from drying out.

Despite it being winter, the UV rays can still be harsh on your scalp, limit your time in the sun.

“Spending too much time in the sun, regardless of the season, make your scalp dry and rough,” he said. On cold days, wear a beanie to keep your scalp warm and remember to cover your ears and neck.
