Beauty Queen’s ‘Reading with Dilwana’ drive aims to encourage the youth to read more

Tammy Taylor Mrs SA 2019 semi-finalist, Dilwana Magoro, has embarked on a book drive; Reading with Dilwana which will be held at the Peter Mokaba Stadium's Koos Smith Hall on 8 June.

POLOKWANE – The Ga-Matlala-born loves to read and knows how difficult it is for people back home, who love to read for pleasure, to find books.

She said the book drive event will be held to encourage other people to read.

“The purpose is to collect as many books as I can, which will be donated to the schools back home. There will also be speakers at my event, because we must try and inform our children on the importance of reading, the success which comes with reading and how we should encourage and support our children to read. By giving them books, it serves as encouragement and support,” said Magoro.

She said the event will be graced with the presence of local authors such as Nthabiseng Monyapao, Thabang Kgwatala and Kwena Makgakga. “Most of the speakers at the event will be authors, either successful or upcoming. They will talk about their books and what inspired them to start writing. The topics of the day will be; Why is it important to read?, The success that comes with reading and Why it’s important to teach our kids to read,” said Magoro.
