The ninth annual Mighty Men Conference (MMC) in the Bushveld, themed The Blood and My Testimony, saw thousands of men uniting on the farm Snymansdrift outside Polokwane on the weekend.
As from early last Friday conference goers started arriving on the farm to settle in and ready themselves for the weekend programme which consisted of the customary praise, worship and talks by speakers such as Francois Brits, Hill van Schalkwyk and Andries Vermeulen.
On Sunday close to 20 000 people flocked to the farm for a service by evangelist and author Angus Buchan that allowed for women and children to attend.
In his message Buchan quoted from Numbers 14:24: “But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.”
“We are currently experiencing ample negative reports and negative talks in the country and once one continues talking negative, one becomes negative himself. We have grasshopper mentalities and need to maintain a different spirit – like Caleb’s spirit,” Buchan explained.
He emphasised that no matter the colour of one’s skin, wealth or background, each one has the spirit of God and needs to change his or her mind set.
He elaborated and referred to the coming elections saying that no matter who the next president is – Jesus is King. “You have a mandate to believe the promises of God on our lives. Adapt the spirit of God and not the spirit of the world. It is time to decide whether you want to take the easy road or the difficult road with big mountains and be rewarded at the end,” Buchan said.
He further added that cheap grace a big problem among Christians is these days. “There is no neutral zone. Put things right today, say sorry and don’t go back again. Don’t be stubborn, arrogant and proud.”
He concluded by saying that bad company corrupts and that people should find a friend in Jesus as He would never leave your side.
Buchan was happy to see the big number of children present and expressed his love for the younger generation. He invited them onto stage and asked attendees to gather in front of the stage before concluding the event in payer.
Brits, one of the organisers and owner of the farm, said it was yet another not to be forgotten event. “It was one of the most spirit-filled weekends I have ever had. There was a sense of calmness hanging over the farm for the entire weekend,” he said.
Approximately 5 000 men attended the conference.
