In its continued endeavours to reach out to less fortunate learners across the province, the Solly Malatsi Legacy Foundation donated sanitary towels and soccer balls to two schools in Ga-Dikgale village on Tuesday.
The foundation, headed by Solly Malatsi, donated eight boxes of sanitary towels to girls at Phiri Kolobe High School and 12 soccer balls to Kgohlo Primary School.
Malatsi indicated that he had received a request for sanitary pads from Phiri Kolobe’s principal following a noticeable increase in the number of absentees among girls every month.
He further said some of his young football players have enrolled at Kgohlo and they always complained about a shortage of balls hence the donation and remarked that the balls will also help the school to unearth talent and develop skills among players.
“Since menstrual cycles are a monthly thing, we made a commitment to the school that the donation will be a long-term project.
We are actually planning to adopt Phiri Kolobe for the foundation to donate sanitary towels as often as possible for a girl-child not to miss lessons due to menstruation.
I attended the same schools so I saw the need to plough back. The foundation is keen to assist the community, especially youth where possible,” Malatsi made clear.
He went on to outline that they still have more boxes of sanitary towels and a wheelchair to donate to other beneficiaries in due course.
Malatsi concluded by highlighting that the foundation was still looking for deserving people to receive the aforementioned items.
