Behind the scenes with Matalane Makgatla, man of many talents

He is currently starring in Limpopo born and bred, a locally produced television show on Mzanzi Magic Chanel 161 on DSTV.

POLOKWANE – Local television star, Matalane Makgatla, is an author, model, actor, poet, MC and an all round entertainer who loves being in the limelight.

He is currently starring in Limpopo born and bred which can be viewed on Mzanzi Magic Chanel 161 on DSTV.

“Growing up I did everything that was on offer as an extra mural activity, there’s no game I haven’t tried. I played both boys and girls games and I believe that this is what made it easier for me to get in the mode of acting, because you have change into character in order to portray or play a certain character assigned to you, even if it is outside of your comfort zone.”

He continued and said that every single activity that he has ever ventured into he gave his all.

“Being a jack of all trades does sometimes come with its own downfalls because you know they say when you are good at everything that you do in life, not everyone will be happy and celebrate with you, which has been my case most times but then that is how and when a person is able to tell who is their real friend and who is not,” he added.

Sipho explained that he got his big break in the entertainment industry when he decided to move to Johannesburg. After a prolonged search for a casting agency, he finally joined the Just You agency, which is when his career as an entertainer started taking off.

“I had to gather the courage to compete with the best to get gigs. This was not easy but I believed in myself and always ensured that I put up a show giving my A+ game every single time.:

Today he is featured on national television and is doing what he loves. “This goes to show that hard work does pay off in the end. Everyone is a star in their own way,” he said.

The all round entertainer added that practice makes perfect. “Never say you’re good enough, always work on your craft. Knock on every door possible, be humble and always be willing to learn new things,” he concluded.
