‘Never give up your dreams of a brighter, better future’ – student, model Nakedi

Not only using her beauty to make a mark, 20-year-old third year student in Safety Management at Vaal University of Technology, Nakedi Sharamaine Manabalala, is using her brains and big personality to make a positive impact in the lives of others.

POLOKWANE – Nakedi says that she is a model at heart but as an aspiring community builder, has decided to dedicate some of her time during school holidays, toward getting her peers involved in activities that will boost their self worth and help them prepare for a bright future.

She explains that where she comes from, young women who come from poverty stricken family backgrounds, see no future beyond gr 12 completion. They see marriage as a way forward, she says.

“I was fortunate enough to be granted an opportunity to go and further my studies at university after completing gr 12, so I feel compelled to encourage my peers to never give up and know that family backgrounds do not define one’s future,” she added.

Nakedi says when she is not engaging in modelling activities, which is her passion, she is glued to the computer conducting research trying to find ways to contribute to community upliftment and development.

The youngster will soon be hosting an all women seminar where she says she wants to get women of all ages, to come together and engage and discuss, the issues that they face on a daily basis and together come up with solutions to those unique problems.

“This is the fist event that I will be hosting under my non profit organisation Youth of the North Sports Development (YONSD), which I co founded, with an aim to encourage all women to not give up on their dreams of a brighter future or tomorrow. For the younger generation I want them to grow up knowing that they matter and that their family backgrounds should not be a pre requisite of how their future will turn out. As young people we are allowed to dream and we need to ensure that we work hard so that our dreams can become a reality no matter how hard or tough things are at home… we must have something pushing us, a goal,” she added.

The event will be hosted at Moletjie Moshate Community hall on 20 April. For more information, contact Nakedi on +27 73 584 1211.

She says donations of any form are more than welcome.
