Fancy the stage? Don’t miss In the Act drama workshop

The first drama workshop for people between the ages of 13 and 30 (or older) will be held on 18 and 19 March in Polokwane.

POLOKWANE – Janie Wierenga and Dia van Staden are the In the Act presenters and have both followed careers in radio, debating and drama. The first workshop will include the following themes:

• My voice, my instrument: Breathing galore, Projecting sounds, Attitude

• Body balance: To and fro…, Muscle control, A role to play.

• Practicals: Doing what I do best, See me move and hear me hummm…

Janie says: “I can’t wait to work and play our way through information for young people to ensure that they perform better with their debates in class because of better projection of the voice. Whether you’re 15 or 55, never stop dreaming.“The importance of body language while engaging in public speaking or for the camera will also be discussed and practically portrayed during the first workshop,” says Dia.

The presenters are excited about their vision to get the creative juices of young and old flowing freely again. Janie and Dia are confident that each person’s self-esteem develops through interaction with others in a variety of ways. These two women have both studied for their teacher’s diplomas and their courses included speech and drama as a speciality subject. “It is time that we share our passion and talent with young people who would like to explore the fields of television, radio, stage and film work,” they agree.
