A total of 50 beauty queens affiliated to Limpopo and SA Beauty Modelling Academy put their catwalk skills to the test during the academy’s Super Model SA 2019 edition at Bolivia Estate on Saturday.
Participants competed in both pageantry and runway categories and the scores obtained were later combined to determine the winners who received sashes and other great prizes.
The overall winner, Kamogelo Tisane also won the category Super Model SA Jnr Teen.
Katryn Celliers, owner of the academy stated that it was wonderful to see her models in action on the runway, especially some of them who competed for the first time. She applauded all the participants and said she was impressed with their performance.
“Modelling is all about building confidence through fashion. We aim to provide lots of opportunities for models to gain on-stage experience that will help them become top models. We believe in beauty with a purpose and on pageant day received non-perishable food worth close to R7 000 which will be donated to Ga-Maboi Drop-in Centre,” Celliers said.
The Miss Beauty with a Purpose title was claimed by Abbygail Smit who had raised canned food and other items to the value of R2 000.
The judging panel had a daunting task and Celliers conveyed her appreciation for their efforts.
The jury consisted of beauty queen and former academy model, Lehlogonolo Mojapelo as head judge, Miss Baroka Football Club 2018 Zodwa Mdingi and Jou Radio presenter Louise Groenewald. Celliers also thanked media sponsor if the event, Polokwane Observer, Bolivia Estate for hosting them, Kiley Kreations Photography and Kiss-Kiss Make-up artistry.
