DJ Letlaka is living his dream

Music producer and house DJ, Mashile Jack Phoshoko, known by his fans as DJ Letlaka is a house junkie who loves what he does when he is behind the decks.

POLOKWANE – The 35-years old star who is causing a dance storm with his new single Hlekelela featuring Afrikayla and Afrika Capriccio is now living his dream, after spending some time composing songs.

His brand Tsoga Re Phande which translate to Let’s wake up and hustle, includes branded apparel. The Segopje, Ga-Mamabolo born attended primary school at Sekwala, Sesoai Primary School and matriculated at Molapi Secondary School.

He holds an electrical diploma from Ekhuruleni West College. He made his mark in the music industry as a young DJ at a spaza shop, his love for music saw him play at weddings, social events and taverns.

He played for Thobela FM in 2014 as resident DJ on the Party Time Show, which aired on Fridays from 23:00 to 00:00. In his music career he produced music hits like Tshwara lebota, Khola Kuwe, Xigago, and Mmangwane

He said he was nominated for Xitsonga House hit with his track Xigago. “I later founded the record label, Nkareng Entertainment, under which he recorded and produced songs. I am not a newbee to the industry, I’ve worked on so many hits in my music career, and I’ve tried my best to be humble about it, but time waits for no man. I think I am finally ready to face the music head on. I am busy marketing my brand and music, it’s very important to take my music to the masses. I have been motivated by Kalawa Jazz Me Family because they showed me that passion is everything in life,” said Phoshoko.

He tells BONUS that he is the sole owner of Back Home Studio in Polokwane. “The studio that he created benefits him as an artist and the local artist that he works with. The music business is registered under Nkgareng Entertainment. Some of the work that I have done includes producing and managing some of the local artist to help them with their music careers,” he explains. He said other than music, he is the philanthropist duly by his philanthropy projects, whereby he initiated a Segopje Music Festival (SMF), which takes place annually. Patrons are requested to donate sanitary towels for school girls in the Segopje area. Phoshoko encourages other young people to put God first. “If you have a dream make sure you push, until something happens. Don’t do things because other people are doing it, just follow your dream,” he concludes.
