Learners at Capricorn High School (Cappies) keenly supported the school’s first blood drive for the year hosted by the South African National Blood Services (SANBS) Polokwane at the school hall on Tuesday.
More than 53 learners bled for a good cause during the drive that was also open for the public. Cappies educator and blood drive organiser, Irma van der Merwe indicated that they had sent text messages to parents to support the clinic. She said they aim to end among the province’s top five donor schools this year.
Cappies was among 2018’s top ten donor schools and Van der Merwe said while the number of voluntary learner donors who turned up was encouraging they would continue to encourage more learners to do so.
