On the decks with Lady Gee

From track selector to now one of the hottest female djs Polokwane has seen

POLOKWANE – Grace Monama otherwise popularly known as Lady Gee from Seshego zone1 says that it was the negative remarks and critics that pushed her to pursue a career in the music industry as a DJ.

The 29-year-old says that even though she started her career as a Dj very late in life she says she has managed to grow and earn the communities respect, including that of men in the same career field.

“I started DJing in 2016. I started with soul and RnB music and before I knew it I was getting booked left right and centre. It was overwhelming at first but I never deterred me as I now have an even bigger dream to be like DJ Zinhle one day, this is in spite of the criticisms and bad remarks I still sometimes get,” she explained.

Her first official gig was on Christmas 2016 at a popular chill out zone in Seshego, and says that she will forever be grateful for the opportunity given to her to prove her skills and allowing her to follow her passion. “Sharing a stage Paul Motirara, a Sunday soul session Dj on Metro FM gave me my breakthrough. That gig was the highlight of my deejay career as that is where people started seeing my worth and capabilities. I now travel the country playing music to unite people.”

Grace is currently working on her new song called Born for This which is an rnb, soul tune infused track.
