Beauty queen uses her title to uplift her community

Adlecia Malatji (25) is proof that women can have both beauty and brains

LIMPOPO – Not only is she a beauty queen, but Adlecia Malatji (25) from Relela Village in Tzaneen is a End user and A+ IT graduate from Icollege.

She is proof that women can have both beauty and brains.

Adlecia says she found it hard to choose between her schooling and modelling so learned to juggle both. “It was a challenge but it was worth it, through modelling I learned was able to re introspect self introspection and self acceptance. Also I have learned that being a beauty queen is not only about having a pretty face, fair or lighter skin complexion, a sexy body but it’s about the role one plays as a title holder. One needs to have a deep love and passion for your community, as I strongly believe that is the pivotal role of of any beauty pageant title holder,” she explained.

She has entered five beauty pageants thus far, her most recent being Miss Eagle South Africa which she says has pushed her beyond her limits to help those in need. “I have learned to be open minded and have a willingness to learn from others so that I can be that change that I want to see in others. This is first step in helping to change communities.”

As part of her community work she collects and donates blankets to the elders in local villages. Her recent project involved donating blankets to the elderly people in Sethong village to keep them warm at night, especially during winter.

Her advise to the youth is to have clear goals before they venture into the fashion and modelling industry. “Stick to your goals, work hard and start connecting with the right people in order to make your dreams come true. As an intellectual I hope to be a motivation to the youth so that they to can know and understand that education must come first, as education has the power to change lives,” she concluded.
