Soul music is Rufus’ thing

This week we get to know Energy FM's Rufas Rhuu Matsena who presents an hour long show of soul music every Sunday between 13:00 and 14:00 on the Energy Rush Show.

• What taste of music will you prefer to play when you are emotionally affected in your life, resulted at home or at work? Anonymous, Polokwane.

“My taste of music based on any mood is soul and jazz.”

• If you will be given time to prepare for your quests in the kitchen, what type of food do you prefer to offer and why? Anonymous, Polokwane.

“I prefer to cook anything that might take a while like oxtail or tripe (mogodu). This would make my guests to stay longer.”

• Radio takes a lot of time away from people, you leave with according to me, how do you balance that since you are a DJ who does the things right to entertain us. Are you not sometimes tempted during your job? And thank you for your taste of music, it’s powerful ‘Bra Rhuu.’ Justice Ngoepe, Moletjie Motinti.

“I plan my weekend in such a way that it doesn’t affect my personal life. As a DJ you need to be professional and respect your craft. The taste of music, is inspired by what happens around us on a day to day basis.”

• How old are you sir, and when did you fall in love with music? John Masenya, Bendor.

“My love for music, especially soul and rnb started at an early age during my high school days. My selection of some soul sounds will give you an idea of my age.”

• Do you listen to reggae or just soulful music? Maggy, Seshego Zone 1.

“I do listen to basically all type of music genres, reggae included. Though I’m passionate about choral music.”

• Do you know how to play any music instrument or do you only love music? Tshepiso Ngoako, Kwena Moloto.

“I can’t play any music instrument. I just recently bought a guitar and hope to learn how to play it before I go on pension. Lol”
