Thato Moyo, a 13-year-old beauty queen from Limpopo Beauty Modelling School and the current second princess in her age group of Miss Polokwane Observer, is a young go-getter determined to make a difference to other children’s lives.
In line with this, Thato worked very hard gathering donations from various Mokopane businesses and even one in Boksburg, to benefit learners of Morutwa High School in Madiga Village near Solomondale just outside Polokwane.
Thato, a Grade 7 learner of Myngenoegen English Private School, said her journey as a beauty queen and model has been an eye-opener for her. “Each and every one of us can contribute towards the betterment of society. No learner should have to worry about where she is going to get sanitary towels from, or whether she or he will have stationery for school,” Thato explained.
As a result, Thato was able to hand over dictionaries, pens, diaries, calculators and sanitary towels to the learners during a ceremony that also included members of the Student Governing Body, educators and the principal, Eti Manyuha last Tuesday. “The donation was received with much appreciation by learners,” Thato said.
She called on anyone who would like to assist her to make a difference to contact 082 747 5656.
