FlexXx-ing his way through the hip hop industry

Mabalane Mamabolo, who goes by the name FlexXx September, is a creative 21-year-old from Westenburg.

POLOKWANE – He made a conscious decision to channel his creativity into music and describes himself as somebody who likes being indoors but who has the effortless ability to work.

“I have quite a number of friends who love and support me. I’m goal driven and believe in working hard towards my goals,” he said.

Mabalane fell in love with hip hop at the age of 11, started out lip syncing to his favourite songs.

He said he soon had a ‘eureka’ moment and realised that he could perhaps express himself even better by taking up the rapping game himself.

“I eventually started rapping when I was 15. Since then I have worked with producers Decker (Moroko Beats), Abstrakt Bomb, CityBoyAX among others,” he said.

“I always try to find inspiration from the surrounding artists in my circle, my friends, family and new experiences. I try to share my point of view on things and encourage people to do what they are born to do. Hard work and passion makes me eager to go out there and express. My mother is my rock, and she drives me to do my best. She is my hero.”

He will be hosting a few shows this year, which he says will be a great opportunity for him to interact with his fans and meet new people.

“Right now I’m all about the new song, ‘Awthi Yaka’. My team and I are taking advantage of the internet to go where it really counts.”

He encourages young artists to support each other.
