Happie is my stage name

This week, we get to know Energy FM's DJ, Amos DJ Happie Phalama.

POLOKWANE –

• What made you fall in love with the music industry? Why made you choose that name? What makes your DJing unique compared to other DJs? Emmanuel Flacka Gee, Kotishing.

“I fell in love with music when I was a toddler, probably at the age of six. I used to take my brother’s Mp3 Player and play music for hours on end. In 2008 (aged 13), I got excited when I heard of the DJing apps because I knew that DJing methods were going to be an easy thing to do. Later 2014 (aged 19) I upgraded to DJing through equipment and that’s when my passion started to grow. Happie is my stage name and is also my middle name I got from my family. My DJing skills are unique from other DJ’s because I place unique music.”

• I would like to do a song with you and I would be very happy if you agree. Dimakatso Molokoane (Dimza), Seshego Zone 1.

“I welcome everyone to make music with me because music is ‘king,’ it connects people from all parts of the world and I would love to connect with everyone if possible. Kindly drop me an e-mail to djhappie25@gmail.com.”

• How much do you charge per hour or per night? Thabo Masenya, Ga-Thoka.

“Charges usually differ depending on the distance to the event or function.”

• I want to know if you are dating anyone and if so what’s her name? Martha Mothapo, Mmotong.

“Yes, I’m in a stable relationship with someone, but as for saying her name is inappropriate because we prefer to keep it “low-key.”

• Do you drink alcohol? Pabi, Polokwane.

“Yes, I do drink but occasionally and responsibly so.”

• Which DJ do you respect from Limpopo? And what other genres do you listen to when you are home? Precious Mokoka, Seshego Zone1.

“I respect all the producers and DJs because it is the only thing that connects us all at the end of the day. I listen to all genres as long as it connects with me and I believe all artists and DJ’s can learn different techniques from each other. In order to grow, you shouldn’t limit your circle.”
