“La Maxzino” a driving force behind his community

24-year-old Lesetja"La Maxzino" Mokganyana from Koppermyn in Ga-Maja uses his passion for music and education to unite and bring change in his community.

POLOKWANE – Lesetja started writing and performing music in 2003 and recently released his first song, titled “Shap Fede” which translates to “It is okay” at heart. “Musically I am inspired by the late Pro Kid who was popularly known for the phrase Dankie San in the Hip Hop music genre in South Africa, I also look up to PdotO and Blak-lez.:

The artist has heart also has a love for mathematics and the sciences and is currently studying towards a teaching diploma with UNISA.

“I chose the teaching profession as in today’s time young teachers are rare to find. The youth of today tends to overlook the profession of teaching and see it as being uncool, forgetting that when one grows up, cool does not put food on the table. Teachers play a very important role in the society and I want to help groom tomorrows leaders… I want to help play that role of developing the society,” he explained.

His song is inspired by the “Shap Fede” movement he started to help upcoming artists get a foothold in the industry. He has since hosted several successful events aimed to served as a platform for other aspiring and upcoming artists to come and showcase their work.

Lesetja is also working on developing a recreation centre, a park in Koppermyn, for the hosting of such events. This project will be to the benefit of the entire community,” he said.

The ground work will start in Thursday, 4 October and he hopes to launch the park in December.
