DJ Trendy L sets new house music trends

Kelebogile 'DJ Trendy L' Moepi, is hard at work to establish her unique brand in the entertainment industry.

POLOKWANE – The 30-year-old’s love for house music goes back as far as her high school days and was introduced to her by her best friend Sarah and has grown drastically ever since.

DJ Trendy L has recently dropped a new single called Khona Ozolahleka, featuring Sponch Makhekhe.
She is still working on her new album to be released later this year.

Khona Ozolahleka was well received and is taking over the airwaves. Her love for music pushed her to study DJing at Soul Candi. She sets trends with what constitutes as a good song, a dope music video and of course, the influence of female presence in the game that oozes from her very essence.

She says she was inspired by the like-minded trend setters like DJ Zinhle, the legendary Brenda Fassie, Black Coffee, Casper Nyovest and of course Beyoncé.

Nine years as a DJ surely tells one that as fast paced as her rising stardom is, DJ Trendy L definitely plans ahead before venturing into new prospects.

Her debut single Chelete, which is actually the first song she produced, is a clear indication that DJ Trendy L sets trends in creating a new sound in house music.

“Being a female DJ in a male dominated industry is the best thing that happened to me and I will not give up on it. When I was growing up, I was involved in all the musical activities in school. I have a love and passion for music.

“I love every genre of music, but I’m a house DJ and I mostly enjoy playing Afro-deep and dance music,” says DJ Trendy L.

Her belief in “never stop chasing your dreams” has her working hard in the studio, partnering with the Verifiedbeatz team for her upcoming album.

“I am a hardworking nail technician and female DJ. My sound is influenced by the environment that I live in and people around me. I do have staying power because not only am I a DJ, I am also a writer and I specialise in different genres, which makes it easy for me to adjust to any change in the game,” she said.

She said she would love to collaborate with Thandiswa Mazwai, Black Coffee.
