1,2,3… say goodbye to puffy eyes

Taking good care of your skin around the eyes can be a bit tricky, and it also takes a lot of patience until you see the results

POLOKWANE – This is according to skin therapist and owner of Mola’s Wellness and Lifestyle, Molatelo Kgwantha.

“When you come back from a long day at work, make sure that you remove all your make-up.

“In terms of your eyes, make sure you remove the make-up gently using less-scented make-up wipes, and afterwards use petroleum jelly, using a soft cloth or cotton wool,” she said.

She advises after wiping, wash your face with a mild soap and cold water.

“It’s always advisable to rinse your face with cold water because hot water tends to dry out the skin, especially the skin around your eyes, so be sure that it’s cold water you rinse your face with,” she advised.

She explains that one can use food at home to massage the eyes without using different products or chemicals.

“Cucumber gives a subtle, mild skin lightening effect, tea bags reduce puffiness and dryness around eyes and honey hydrates your skin and is a good source to moisturise the dry area of eyes,” she said.

Molatelo adds that normally, the dryness around the eyes can be due to both external and internal factors.

“Weather that is too hot or too cold can cause the skin around the eyes to harden. Using harsh chemicals on your face and cosmetic products or even the environment can also cause your skin to dry out, try to avoid these, and remember to use the home remedy tips,” she said.
