Cracked heals got you dreading summer? Get perfect heels with these tips

Natural Living Spa & Wellness' Benissa Ludick provided some tips on how to get your feet sandal ready for spring.

POLOKWANE – Ludick explained that cracked heels are a common problem affecting both adults and children. It seems cracked heels affect women more often than men, although for most people, having cracked heels isn’t serious, apart for being uncomfortable. In some cases, cracks in the heels can become deep and cause pain.

Ludick explained that the main reason for cracked heels is dehydrated skin. “People tend to neglect their feet and think they do not need to moisturise,” she said. Tips for treating cracked heels at home is to apply heel balm in the morning to increase skin elasticity before you start your day. It is also important to moisturise your heel two or three times a day. Also remember to wear shoes that protect your heel.
