The Vision of Hope Foundation (VoHF) received a welcome cash donation from the proceeds of a recently held ‘The Gift of Giving Market’ on Friday.
Karin Liebenberg, co-owner of a Leeuwkuil based company said a flea market is held every first Saturday of the month to give unemployed residents of the area a chance to earn a decent living by selling their goods. She further said the money raised for VoHF at the recent market was subsidised by the company to a total of R1 500.
Drienie van Wyk, Chairperson of VoHF pleaded with the public to support the market because it is for a good cause. She said the money was most welcome and that the foundation valued every donation made, no matter how big or small. Van Wyk thanked the company for their initiative as it assists unemployed citizens and charity organisations in the province.
The next Gift of Giving open market is expected to be held on 6 October. Liebenberg said this would be their third event and they are planning to donate all proceeds of the day to the SPCA Polokwane.
“Stalls cost R30 each and the day is open to everyone. We had 32 stalls at the previous gathering and we are hoping to have more next month,” Liebenberg said. She added that their vision was to eventually have a permanent flea market for people to sell their products.
