Young musician shares her love fr afro-jazz and RnB

Discovering her love for music at a young age, Mothball Elo Blues Mogashoa, has officially started her music career.

POLOKWANE – The 21-year-old sings Afro-jazz, jazz, pop and RnB and explains music and arts are her passion which she decided to share with everyone in the form of her debut album, My Life tells it all.

Her Manager, Moses Hlapa, says she is definitely ready to make waves in the industry. “I’m very proud of Elo, she’s very young and talented. She’s doing very well in the music industry, and so is her music,” Moses says.

Originally from Nobody, the artist currently resides in Turf Unit C. She attended Mapudithoma Primary School, Hwiti High School, and matriculated from Mapeloana Secondary School in 2015. She’s currently a student at the University of Limpopo (UL) studying communication studies.

“I started my music career last year in June, beginning to play guitar around the same time. I used books and tutorial videos to teach myself how to play instruments correctly, learning both the theory and practical side of it.”

This year she performed at the Marula Festival and last year at the 2017 Phangweni Vibe event. “Aside from the stage, I like being in the studio, but recording wasn’t as easy as I thought. I’m more of a live performer than background music being used to live beats which made it difficult for me to understand how things worked in the studio. My manager helped me get a grip on things by explaining the difference between the live and studio version of a song which helped me a lot. Now I know and understand the importance of both styles of music.”

She adds she’s a perfectionist in everything she does, academically and musically. “Whenever I would hear a mistake on my vocals or maybe I don’t understand a beat, I would just turn moody and stop talking to my producer or even stop recording which delayed my hard copy to be released. It was my first time, and I believe next time when I face such challenges, I will find a better way to handle them.”
