Three young models from Ace Models Limpopo have been chosen from over 4 500 entries as semi-finalists, of which there are 100, in the SA Teen Ambassador pageant.
SA Teen Ambassador is a youth empowerment programme for South African girls between the ages of 15 and 19 years.
Lehlogonolo Manamela (17), Keri-leigh Wood (17) and Chaunte du Bruyn (16) said they were ecstatic when they received the news on 6 August that they had been chosen as semi-finalists.
The next round of the competition will see just 25 semi-finalists being chosen to go forward in the competition. The final will be held on 1 December in Johannesburg.
In the meantime, the three girls are very busy promoting themselves and would like people to vote for them.
The girls shared a bit about themselves during an interview with Polokwane Observer on Tuesday.
Lehlogonolo is in Grade 12 at PEPPS Polokwane Preparatory School and College and says her favourite subject is Business Studies. Besides modelling she loves playing netball. “I entered this pageant because I wanted a challenge. In the words of our president Cyril Ramaphosa, ‘Thuma mina’, which is Zulu for ‘Send me’. I am always ready to serve,” she explained.
Keri-leigh is a learner at Hoërskool Pietersburg (PHS) and currently completing Grade 12 and her favourite subject is Computer Applications Technology. When she is not modelling she enjoys horse riding and doing gym. “My motto in life is to start where you are, use what you have, do what you can, never give up and never lose faith,” she says.
Chaunte is a Grade 11 learner at PHS and says the subject she loves the most is Accounting. Aside from modelling she enjoys playing tennis. “I entered this pageant because I feel it is a wonderful platform to make my dreams come true. I want to help girls and women who do not have access to sanitary pads, and another dream is to be able to supply children in children’s homes with bibles. I want children to know God,” she explained.
