Idols SA – the boost MK Makwana need to further his career

Having started off the year on a high note with being awarded the golden ticket at the Idols SA Polokwane auditions, Phidiso Mk Makwana now plans to take the singing industry in Limpopo up a notch.

POLOKWANE – Phidiso says coming from a small village in Ga-Mphahlele called Bolopa Phalakwane, opportunities for personal growth are very limited and you have to work hard to find those opportunities in order to enjoy them.

He explained that growing up in a church going family where praise and worship, hymns and difela were the order of each and everyday.

“As a toddler I performed for the family and friends and when I was a little older I joined the junior church choir for Sunday school and then the senior choir through the youth worship team.”

He continued brewing his talent by being part of the college band performing at school concerts and that is when the passion for singing got embedded into him.

“I started realising that I have a rare skill for singing when people would complement me saying that my voice has a healing quality. It was then a decided to enter the SA Idols Competition,” he explained.

“I sang Ubuhle by Vusi Nova and the judges were so impressed they awarded me a golden ticket.”

MK said he felt honoured to be chosen as one of the two best singers in Polokwane and receiving the  golden ticket just confirmed all the compliments that he had received over the years. He is now working to grow his brand by performing at local hang out spots through the province.
