Dancers claim your bragging rights at dance tournament

The Dance Tribe Tournament is a dance competition where Pantsula and hip hop dance crews will compete for a R5 000 cash prize, championship trophy and bragging rights.

POLOKWANE – Non-profit arts and culture organisation, Mega Artists Media is set to help develop the entertainment industry in Limpopo.

The organisation founded in 2014 will be hosting a Dance Tribe Tournament on 14 July at the Library Gardens Auditorium in Polokwane.

“Dance is one of the most important expressions.

It embodies culture and it summarises expression of one’s history, social values, economics, environment, and belief system, all represented in the dance patterns. This is the second Annual Dance Tribe Tournament and the aim is to change the perception that dancing is just a hobby,” said Jack Rams, Dance Tribe Tournament Project Coordinator as well as one of the founders of the organisation. Jack added that they are merely trying to encourage and ensure that dancers opt for dancing as a career and profession.

“We want to use the creative medium of dance and performing arts to train, educate, develop and empower youth and adults within our communities and instill a great love of dance while inspiring self-confidence, discipline and respect for performing arts. We have 10 teams taking part in the competition. The teams will be judged by professional choreographers and also get a workshop to help improve their skills,” he added.

The Dance Tribe Tournament is a dance competition where Pantsula and hip hop dance crews will compete for a R5 000 cash prize, championship trophy and bragging rights. It will take place from 12:00 to 19:00.
