The saying that every little bit helps when it comes to helping the less fortunate was proven on Tuesday morning when two Polokwane residents did what they could to make a difference in the lives of the residents of Centenary House run by the Association for Persons with Disability (APD) Limpopo.
Edwin Matloa and Nape Malatji said their morning of preparing, serving and clearing up breakfast for the residents began when they received a donation of vegetables to be given to the needy. “We decided to contribute from our own pockets as well, and we also bought sweets and resold them to collect more money to buy more food,” Malatji explained.
They decided to give their donation to the residents of Centenary House. “But we wanted to do more by offering our services as well,” Matloa said.
Residents enjoyed their breakfast and several of them also enjoyed having a chat with Malatji and Matloa. “It was very kind of them to think of us and they made breakfast a special time this morning,” Gerna Theron, one of the residents said.
Christa van der Walt, APD Limpopo director, said it is definitely true that every little bit helps. “Individuals who would like to assist us in any way can contact our office on 015 291 1787.”
