Young gospel artists nominated for Ingoma

Two young sisters from Dopeni, Masana (15) and Phathu (11) Siwadawada, share a love for music and were nominated for this year's Independent National Gospel Music Awards (Ingoma) 2018.

LIMPOPO – They have been nominated in the best gospel album and best collaboration categories for their album, Rialivhuwa.

The Ingoma awards were started in 2013 and has brought artists from all races and ethnic groups together in celebration of South Africa’s diverse gospel music industry.

Masana and Phatudi said they grew up listening to celebrated musicians such as Thili Maumela, Lufuno Dagada and Benjamin Dube and added they drew inspiration from these artists.

The songs on their album, Rialivhuwa, were composed by Masana in Tshivenda, Sepedi and English and the talented duo said even though they would love to perform live, they do not have musical instruments of their own. They added they want to portray the love of God through their music, because God’s love makes them complete, something they want to share with their peers who become involved with alcohol and drug abuse, staying from God’s path for them.

“I feel so blessed and excited to be nominated. It is a sign that great things are still coming and God is doing something amazing through our music,” Masana said, adding their album focused on God’s love and eternal presence.
