The induction of Antoanetta Atanasova-Letsoalo as president of the Rotary Club of Polokwane at the Pietersburg Club on Friday evening was the highlight of the club’s social activities for the year.
Outgoing President Chymie Naidoo took the floor and presented his report for the 2017/18 presidential year. Naidoo alluded to a number of projects which included provision of toilets at Siloe School for the Blind, water tanks for the SPCA Polokwane and assistance to Ngwana Baby House amounting to R71 000. “The total amount raised from safaris and functions was more than R400 000 and most of it was distributed to community projects,” Naidoo said.
Naidoo presented the Rotarian of the Year Award to Susan van der Merwe for her involvement in the Golden Future Crèche project in Seshego where pre-school teachers are updated on the latest teaching methods and coached on how to make useful items from recycled materials. Atanasova-Letsoalo received the Rotarian Most Travelled Award.
Atanasova-Letsoalo said that she is looking forward to her term as president. “I will strongly rely on fellow Rotarians led by our Board of Directors Debi Lilford, Malcolm Lister, Charles Hardy, Oloko Wedi, Mxolisi Bambo, Roy Kirkpatrick, Marius Liebenberg and Chymie Naidoo,” she said.
