Residents from different areas across the city gathered at the Association for Persons with Disability (APD) Limpopo on Saturday for the first annual social/charity event organised by two local companies.
The gathering, themed ‘Mingle for a good cause’, aimed at collecting clothes, shoes and blankets for distribution to two charity organisations in Seshego that caters for persons of all ages suffering from chronic illnesses, the Ikageng and Home of Faith centres.
According to one of the organisers, Mantoa Mashangoane attendees had to buy tickets to be part of the event and were also requested to donate whatever they could.
She stated that the aim was to bring people together and give back to the community, adding that this was the first event but they are planning to make it an annual gathering. The ceremony accommodated both young and old and the organisers were happy with the turnout. Mashangoane told the attendees that the initiative supported less privileged persons. She said it takes a special breed of people to share what they have with the underprivileged.
Representatives from the two centres expressed their delight and thanked everyone who donated saying more such initiatives are needed in the province.
