Warm blankets to keep out the winter cold were delivered to pensioners at Komarin Tehuis vir Bejaardes in Myngenoegen by DA Ward Councillor Androë Botha last Thursday.
Manager of the home, Luque Markgraaff, expressed their gratitude for the blankets. “This came at just the right time. Only last night I was wondering where we would get blankets from and said a little prayer,” she said.
The home is independently run from the state and even ensuring that they have the minimum basic necessities is a daily struggle. The pensioners who live on the premises are solely dependent on their social grants, most of which goes towards providing for their daily needs.
Botha said through this gesture, the DA once again confirmed its commitment towards the vulnerable citizens of the province in this trying economic climate. “We do what we can wherever possible and call on others to try to do the same. No donation is too small and will make a difference,” she said.
Markgraaff said there is always a need for basics such as food and clothing and said they are extremely grateful to all donors who assist them in the current difficult times.”
For more information or to assist Markgraaff can be contacted on 072 538 9781.
