Members of the Limpopo Jeep Wrangler Club paid a visit to Reakgona Adult Centre for mentally challenged adults in Polokwane on Saturday to hand over a donation of warm winter blankets and toiletries.
The Limpopo Jeep Wrangler Club is a social club of enthusiastic Jeep Wrangler owners and their families, which celebrated one year of existence on Saturday, which was also Youth Day. Speaking on behalf of the club, Melusi Ncube explained that while on Jeep Wrangler trails through rural Limpopo, the hardships that many people suffer was brought home to them. “So we decided to also try to help uplift needy people in our community,” he explained.
Also attending was Polokwane-based Nombuso Hlatshwayo, Corporate Social Investment Specialist from Coca-Cola Beverage SA who donated warm winter blankets on her company’s behalf. “My thanks go out to the club for bringing the plight of these people to my attention and facilitating this donation,” she said.
Speaking on behalf of Reakgona Adult Centre, Andrew Sekhu thanked everyone involved for their caring and their donation, and said he hoped this was not the last he would see of them.
Ncube reiterated that this visit would not be the last and that further donations could be expected in the future.
The day ended in much jubilation as the donations were received by the residents of the centre.
