POLOKWANE – “I am originally from Soweto. I decided to study and obtain a qualification in Music from Ochrim Music School in Pretoria because I knew that to make a success of this profession, I would need background knowledge and information to refer back on in my pursuit. I learnt that there is more to the entertainment industry than music and dancing, there is also art and as an artist you need to be an all rounder and be able to do stage drama performances, singing, dancing, and others. I have been singing in the Potters House Christian church since I received comments from people who told me my voice heals them. I felt like this is God’s calling for me, my purpose on earth,” she explained.
Bubu runs a full service events and entertainment company called Spotlight Events.
“The company focuses on artist management, event management/coordination, marketing and branding. It provides a platform for upcoming artists to develop and elevate their talent to greater heights as well offering them a platform to showcase and market their work. Artists need to consider themselves first and foremost as brands, in this way, they will be able to protect as well as work hardest to get their names/brands out there. This, for me, is one of the best self-marketing strategies any artist can ever poses or have,” said the 30-year-old.
Bubu Nxumalo has worked with artists such as Neo Seakamela, Malatji, Charlebass, DJ Loan, Guitarman and many more local artists in Limpopo, which has allowed her grow as an artist and to nurture her singing talent by learning from those who have been in the industry for longer than she has.
Her passion for love and music has inspired her to compose and release a single called Konke which she is currently pushing and marketing.
