POLOKWANE – Mabotja, who went solo in 2014 says he chose to do so as he felt he needed to grow as an artist to reach his full potential.
“I have worked with well-known gospel sensation, Tshepo Nkadimeng who is now with Joyous Celebration, as well as Lazarous Thobejane from Lamuzi production whom I have learned a lot from in terms of music,” he explained.
Mabotja has successfully recorded and released three gospel albums since he went solo titled; Diphiri Makunutu, Thapelo and My Journey and says the albums taught him that having a relationship with God is very important for ones well-being.
“God is able to heal people emotionally, which for me is where healing for all types of sickness, physically and emotionally, all starts,” he added.
He says his first album titled Diphiri Makunutu sold more than 2 000 copies and was also nominated for the Limpopo Fame Awards in 2016, under best Sotho album. It has now been nominated for a Mmino Wa Clap and Tap Award under the Son of Clap and Tap category.
“I aim to represent the province as well as to get that award and bring it back here, home,” he said.
