The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has recently been involved in charity work in several rural areas of Limpopo.
Boikanyo Ratlhagane, speaking on behalf of the embassy of the UAE in Pretoria said this was done in honour of the late founding father of the UAE, Zayed Bin Sultan al Nahyan and under the leadership of its ambassador, Mahash Saeed Mahash Alhameli
“He led his nation to new heights of economic progress and prosperity,” Ratlhagane said of Al Nahyan.
He further explained that Alhameli had made it his mission to help the underprivileged rural communities in South Africa by extending a helping hand and providing power food hampers and educational toys to four rural women-managed community Early Childhood Development Centres in Moroke in the Fetakgomo-Tubatse municipal area.
The UAE also donated bacteria sanitisers to Mecklenburg Clinic’s multi drug resistant tuberculosis section and seven home based care centres supported by the clinic.
“Other donations consisted of toiletry packs given to all Grade 12 learners at Mphachue High School in Mogodi ga Mphahlele in the Lepelle Nkumpi municipal area,” Ratlhagane further said.
He added that SA and the UAE have a longstanding relationship based on mutual respect and appreciation of diversity. “In light of this, our humble donation was made to lighten the poverty burden of those less fortunate,” he concluded.
