Here’s how to find the perfect bra
Many women who are larger in the breast region still find it quite difficult to find the best fit, here are a few simple tips to find your perfect fit.
POLOKWANE – A bra is something that many of us don’t give a second thought to, yet it is something we wear for most of the day. Many women who are larger in the breast region still find it quite difficult to find the best fit, here are a few simple tips to find your perfect fit.
Find a bra with a back size that perfectly fits around your waist
This can be done by measuring under the bust as well as around the torso. This will guide you in determining the size of the under-band. The under-band must not be too tight (digging into your skin) or to loose. With a bra on, take measurements around the rib cage, directly under your bust and level all around. Should you get an odd number, round it up to the next even number.
The wiring under the bra should not feel uncomfortable
The purpose of an underwire is to contour the natural shape of your breast by encompassing the entirety of your breast tissue and giving it a lift and a round shape, but remember that this should be in accordance with providing extra lift and support, not pain and discomfort. The wiring must curve under the bust towards your underarms. It is crucial that the underwire is not sitting too high into the armpit and pinching or piercing the flesh at the side of the bust.
Find the correct cup size
Take a loose measurement over the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level around your body. If needed, round up to the nearest inch. Calculate your cup size by subtracting your under-band size from your bust size and use the difference to find your cup size on the bra size chart below.
Bra straps are just as important to the overall fit of the bra
Contrary to popular belief, bra straps aren’t there to hold up your bra, they are there to add stability. The wrong bra size will cause discomfort on the shoulders and is a reason why so many women eventually complain of a sore neck, shoulders and back. Your bra should not dig into your shoulder, neither should the strap fall off your shoulders. Those are clear signs that your are wearing the incorrect bra size for your bust.
