It was all fun and games when two bikers clubs, Ulysses Bosveld and Roadhogs Pietersburg joined forces with Soetdorings Country Club to raise funds for people living with cancer during the Bikers against Cancer Run 2018 recently.
Attendees could enjoy games such as catapult shooting, a talent show and live entertainment as a treat for those who enjoy music. One of the organisers, Ronald Leach said this was the first time that bikers host a cancer run in Polokwane. Previously the event was always held in Musina but it was decided to move it to the city for a change.
Leach said they managed to raise R13 156 which will be used to support persons living with cancer at, among others, old age homes.
The beauty pageant was well supported and enjoyed by the audience. In the junior category Jolene Leach was named Miss Cancer Supporter 2018 and Richardo van Staden walked away with the title Mr Cancer Supporter 2018.
In the senior category Mirie Loggenberg and Marnus Pretorius scooped the titles for Miss Cancer Supporter 2018 and Mr Cancer Supporter 2018. Pretorius chose to hand over his title to the venue owner, Peet Kruger.
Leach said nearly 200 people had attended the event. He thanked all those who contributed time, money and resources to make the gathering a success. He added that they hoped to raise more money in support of cancer victims when they stage their next Bikers against Cancer Run.
