Poet ‘recites’ on craft

Growing up Marinkie Tepanyega (26) from Seshego Zone 1 explained that it has always been a lifelong dream of hers to make it into the media industry.

POLOKWANE – “I have always had a passion and love for the entertainment industry, the spotlight. I have been fortunate enough to become a backup dancer for various musicians and that has afforded me the opportunity to travel the country meeting different people and learning about different cultures and lifestyles that people live. While I was still in school, primary and high school I developed a writing skill which is why I am currently writing a book full of poems inspired by things that happen around me which will afford me an opportunity to showcase my skills and talents in writing with obviously a long term of goal of one day recording my poems on CD and launching the album to inspire those creatives at heart to keep on working hard at crafting their work and art,” she explained.

The human resource graduate from Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) explained that her aim is to develop the entertainment industry within the Limpopo province affording aspiring poets and creatives at heart a platform to showcase their talents, unique crafts as well as share ideas and advise on how to improve on their individual crafts. “The truth is in Polokwane when you talk about poetry or any talent that has to do with the creative side of an individual, it is like you are speaking a foreign language. The platform for poets is very limited this side of the country and I strongly believe that it is our responsibility to ensure that we are exposed in the right manner to the right people so that we can push ourselves as brands,” she added on.

She is now planning on developing a non-profit organisation called the Tie_Me-Movement for women through which she plans on grooming as well as empowering young women to keep dreaming on a large scale and to continue chasing those dreams in order to become successful.
