G rab the chance to exchange your formal shoes for tekkies on Tekkie Tax Day, Friday 25 May and do your bit for a charity near to your heart at the same time.
Tekkie Tax Day stickers costing R10 each will give you right to do so, and will be available at various outlets in the city including the Polokwane Nasorgsentrum vir Volwasse Intellektueel Gestremdes.
According to Saartjie du Toit from the aftercare centre, people who wish to purchase stickers, shoelaces for R35 or T-shirts for R95 for adults or R80 for children can do so from the aftercare centre. “Even if your favourite charity cause is not intellectually disabled adults but cancer support, the elderly or children, all you need to do when you make your purchase is to say which charity you would like the money to go to,” Du Toit explained.
The project has 11 national beneficiaries, being Epilepsy SA Child Welfare SA, SOS Children’s Villages, Choc, Special Olympics SA, Imisebeyelanga Services, Cansa, Meals on Wheels, VVA, NG Welsyn and SAVF, representing more than 1 000 welfare organisations.
Du Toit requested all businesses and the general public to get involved in this initiative and support it.
Stickers, shoelaces and T-shirts can be purchased at the aftercare centre at 96 Dorp Street or contact Du Toit on 015 297 1459.
