DJ Bravo 99 takes multitasking to another level
Between being a rapper, a DJ and a producer, 24-year-old Sebaka Mogano, better known as Bravo 99, recently released his beat tape titled Introspection beat tape.
POLOKWANE – “Being in the music industry is very challenging, especially if you don’t have a record label or any sponsors. As a DJ you must have patience as well as full equipment so you can prepare for gigs or host your own. As an artist, you must have money to pay for studio time, photo shoots and album cover designs. As a producer, you must have full equipment, condenser microphones for recording and monitor speakers for mixing songs. I overcome most challenges by making money on the side through my small IT company,” he explained.
Bravo 99 fell in love with music at the age of 14, after being inspired by international rap artist Kanye West. He later perfected his craft when his dad bought him a laptop.
“A friend of mine gave me a music making software called Fruityloops studio. I didn’t know how to operate it by then, and as the years went by, I taught myself how to use it, until I mastered it, and this is where it got me,” he added.
After completing his high school career in Ditlalemeso High School in Turfloop, Mogano pursued an information technology course at Boston City Campus.
“I am now running a small IT company in my township where I assist people in software and also fix their electronic devices when they need assistance. In this way I’m using and improving my skills and energy that I absorbed from college and using it in my community to grow it in every way possible,” he explained.
After having performed in a number of events alongside the 015 Connection Crew, a solo event at the Library Gardens Auditorium, one at the Seshego Poetic Joint and after being a resident DJ at Mania Chisa Nyama Pub, Mogano regards himself as a Jack of all trades.
He has also performed at the Flora Park dam and in Lephalale, alongside DJ’s Brazo Wa Afrika and Problem Child.
