POLOKWANE – This 24-year-old self-taught makeup artist decided to put her natural flair for makeup and beauty to good use to earn an income, founded Moshabi Makeup through which she enhances her clients’ natural beauty for any occasion.

“I realised my talent and passion at a rather early age as I always took the opportunity to put my makeup skills to good use at family gatherings. I just want to bring out my clients’ natural beauty and help boost their self-confidence,” she said.
Sewela shared some makeup tips with Review:
- “Firstly, it is important to have all the products and correct shades to suit your complexion before you can even start to apply makeup,” she said.
- It is important, she added, to know which product to apply first – primer, foundation, concealer then the powder. Then you can apply the finishing touches; the eyeliner, mascara, lipstick and the cheek bronzer.
In terms of eyelashes, Sewela said many women struggle to get the perfect set of eye lashes to go with their face beats. “Unfortunately some women struggle to apply eye makeup to best suit their eyes. Some, for instance, apply too much mascara to their natural eye lashes and end up with lumps and eyelashes that look untidy. Some go for fake lashes which look too artificial and can be extremely uncomfortable because the size and shape does not suit them,” she explained.
She added there are various types of eyelash extensions one can rock such as the natural eyelashes, open eyelashes, cat eyelashes and doll eyelashes to achieve a perfect face beat without having to deal with clumpy eyelashes due to too much mascara.
“Lash extensions are convenient as they do not need mascara, some can even be taken off at night and be reapplied the next day. It is important to know which eyelash extensions suit your face shape, however.”
