Cruciana Cheu: Bringing you the news on Energy FM

This week we got to learn more about Energy FM’s news reporter, Cruciana Chueu.

POLOKWANE –

• Do you encourage young and aspiring reporters to take or rather follow in your footsteps or is it a tough industry? DJ The Saint Pablo, Sebayeng.

“I can only encourage that if it is one’s passion to pursue a career in the world of media, to go for it. Most people are in the media industry because they want their work to be recognised by others while some people also want recognition themselves, so that they have status in the eyes of society.
It is not a bad motive to wish to be famous, but this must never become your main reason for being a journalist. You will not be a good journalist if you care more for impressing your audience than for serving their needs.”

• Is it ‘emotional friendly’ to be doing what you are doing? Does one need specifics in order to make it even bigger than what you are now doing on Energy FM? Pappie Raphokwane, Sebayeng.

“I believe that there is a vital role that a journalist plays and one of those is being able to control your emotions. It is not sun and roses every day, I do come across a lot of challenges, but you also need to realise that it is not all about you, especially in journalism where people rely on you to do your job. Of course Pappie, things like experience, research, knowledge and passion for your work can take you very far. You need to be driven to tackle even bigger media houses.”

• How did you end up landing a job at energy FM? Morema Patricia, Greenside Extension 44.

“Hello Morema Patricia. I applied, sent in a demo and I got the job.”

• Would you say you are a loud person? David, Nobody.

“Hello David. I have my moments, but generally I have the most contagious laugh ever. I’m honestly a warm hearted soul. A very good listener. Beautiful inside and out. Smiles.”

• Who do you look up to in the industry that you are working in? Lebogang Mokoena, Turfloop.

“Lebogang there are so many. Where do I begin; Karyn Maughan and Rebecca Davis amongs others.
I admire and respect their work, and there are so many attributes that one can learn from these phenomenal journalists and it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to follow in their footsteps.”
