The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) in Limpopo held its annual Blood Drive Controller function in Polokwane on Friday.
Dottie Pinn, Public Relations Practitioner of the service emphasised the importance that a blood drive controller plays and the role they play between the SANBS and the organisation they work for, where blood drives are held. During the function the controllers were acknowledged for the good work they have done throughout the year.
Pinn stated that “Blood drive controllers play a vital role in saving lives of patients who are in need of blood products on a daily basis, as they arrange blood drives in their various organisations.”
The blood drive controllers were treated to a neck and shoulder massage on their arrival prior to the start of the official programme. Companies and schools are encouraged to host blood drives at their respective venues to contribute blood to SANBS and help save lives. Anyone interested in hosting a blood drive at their workplace or school can contact Pinn on 015 283 3600 or visit www.sanbs.org.za for more information about the SANBS.
